 Flu Vaccine Distribution

The Centers for Disease Control has announced that state departments of health throughout the country will be responsible for distributing the remaining flu vaccine.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) strongly suggests that those dealing with at-risk populations contact their state department of health ASAP to find out what their process will be to deliver the vaccine.

According to CMS, "Although State Health Departments have received this information from the CDC, we also strongly encourage you to get information out to your facilities letting them know that they should also contact the State Health Department directly if they have a need for the vaccine. CDC has advised that they believe that getting information from the national and local level is the best approach given the quick turn around States will have for making decisions on allocation.

The following link to CDC will provide more information on CDC's decision: www.cdc.gov/od/oc/media/pressrel/r041109.htm
