Access Data Published In Recent Edition Of AJKD "Uses of Standardized Ratios to Examine Variability in Hemodialysis Vascular Access Across Facilities" is the title of an article citing Network data in a recent issue of the American Journal of Kidney Diseases (AJKD, Vol. 35, No. 2 (February) 2000, pp 275-281). The article describes the process used in developing a standardized access ratio to adjust for patient characteristics when examining types of vascular accesses used for hemodialysis. The ratio is similar in principle to the standardized mortality ratio which is often used to examine dialysis patient mortality. The lead authors, Drs. Ashwini Sehgal and Marcia Silver, are both members of the Medical Review Board of The Renal Network.
