PURPOSE: Hemodialysis in the 21st Century is an intensive two-day course geared specifically for the needs of nephrology fellows, nephrologists, nephrology nurses, and nephrology technicians. This unique symposium offers lectures by internationally acclaimed hemodialysis specialists. In addition to the basic aspects of hemodialysis, recent advances and cutting-edge technology will be presented. The course should be of particular interest to attendees who are preparing for their board or license examinations. After completion of the course, participants are expected to better understand the pathophysiology and clinical aspects of renal failure, with emphasis on the practical management of acute and chronic dialysis patients. Finally, the participants are also expected to know enough about the intricacies of hemodialysis so as to be at home in any hemodialysis setting.
